Titan Plus Luxe Mattress Overview

The Titan Plus Luxe mattress is a durable and extra-supportive mattress that’s designed for heavier-weight sleepers and couples. It’s a bit softer and provides a touch more body contouring than its mattress sibling, the Titan Plus. The Titan brand belongs to Brooklyn Bedding, a popular online mattress brand that makes its mattresses in the USA. They offer popular mattresses such as the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora and Brooklyn Bedding Signature.

This mattress is designed with particular sleepers in mind, so it will come as no surprise that some people will love this mattress and some people… might not. Here’s a quick look at who might enjoy sleeping on the Titan Plus Luxe and who might want to continue their mattress search.

Who Might Like The Titan Plus Luxe?

Who Might Not Like The Titan Plus Luxe?

  • Lightweight sleepers
  • Heavier stomach sleepers, who will probably prefer the Titan Plus
  • People who prefer a slow-moving feel

Titan Plus Luxe Mattress Firmness And Feel

If you’re on the hunt for a new mattress, you can make things easier on yourself by first considering firmness and feel. These factors will help you sort through different options because they tell you a lot about whether a mattress will suit your preferred sleep position(s) and body type. So let’s kick off the in-depth portion of this review by looking at the firmness and feel of the Titan Plus Luxe!

How Firm Is The Titan Plus Luxe?

We ranked the Titan Plus Luxe around a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the Titan Plus Luxe is right around medium-firm. The mattress layers body-contouring foam over supportive coils, which creates a balance of comfort and support.

Of course, firmness is a bit subjective. Depending on your body weight and personal preferences, you might find that this bed feels a touch firmer or softer.

Sleeping On The Titan Plus Luxe

We enjoyed a pleasant balance of comfort and support while back sleeping on the Titan Plus Luxe. The foam comfort layers provide a touch of body contouring, while the sturdy coils offer spinal support.

We enjoyed good pressure relief while side sleeping on this mattress. Most heavy-weight side sleepers should find adequate comfort in this position.

Titan Luxe Hybrid - Side Sleeping

In our experience, the Titan Plus Luxe is a touch too soft for stomach sleeping. (That’s especially true for heavyweight sleepers.) Our hips sank a bit too far into the mattress, which pulled the spine out of alignment.

What Does The Titan Plus Luxe Feel Like?

Overall, the Titan Plus Luxe has a bouncy and responsive feel. The foam in the comfort layers creates just a bit of the slow-moving feel that’s a common feature of memory foam, while the coils underneath ensure that sleepers don’t feel stuck. It’s easy to move around on this bed.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs

The Titan Plus Luxe should provide average-weight back sleepers with a nice balance of comfort and spinal support. It will likely feel too firm for average-weight side sleepers, however. That firmness could be a boon for average-weight stomach sleepers, who should enjoy plenty of spinal support on this bed.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Titan Plus Luxe is a great match for heavyweight back sleepers, who will enjoy a touch of pressure relief along with plenty of spinal support. This mattress is also a great option for heavyweight side sleepers, who should enjoy adequate pressure relief. It might be a touch too soft for heavyweight stomach sleepers, who will probably want to seek out the firmer Titan Plus model. See our best mattresses for heavy people for more like the Titan mattresses.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

Overall, the Titan Plus Luxe is not designed for lightweight sleepers and might not be the best fit for this category. Lightweight back sleepers who prefer a firmer feel could enjoy this mattress, but it might feel too firm for folks who prefer some body contouring. Lightweight side sleepers will also encounter a lot of firmness and could feel too much pressure on the shoulder and hip. Lightweight stomach sleepers might appreciate the extra supportive feel of this mattress. But in general, lightweight sleepers will probably want to consider other options from Brooklyn Bedding.

Titan Plus Luxe Mattress Construction

Knowing what it feels like to lie on top of a mattress is important. And so is knowing what’s inside of it. In this section, we’ll break down this mattress layer by layer to reveal its construction and share how different materials influence performance.

Cover

The Titan Plus Luxe features a soft cover that’s quilted with 1” of gel memory foam for some extra comfort right on top of the mattress. You can also opt to include a cooling panel made with phase change material.

Comfort Layers

The primary comfort layer on the Titan Plus Luxe consists of 2” of proprietary TitanFlex Foam, a medium-firm foam that’s designed to provide what the brand calls “responsive contouring with targeted pressure point relief.” Underneath this layer, there’s a transition layer made from 1” of Energex foam, which helps ease sleepers between the softer comfort layer above and the support layers underneath.

Support Layers

The Titan Plus Luxe’s support layer is made from 8” of individually wrapped and extra-supportive TitanCaliber coils. Underneath the coils, there’s a high-density foam base that provides structure and support for the mattress overall.

Mattress Height

The Titan Plus Luxe stands at 13” tall.

Titan Plus Luxe Mattress Performance

You’ve come a long way in this review, and you now know a lot about the Titan Plus Luxe! But there are still some key factors to consider. We put the Titan Plus Luxe through a barrage of tests with regard to temperature regulation, edge support, motion transfer, and more. Let’s see how it performed!

Sleeping Hot Or Cold

This mattress is all about cooling design. It features gel infusions in its foams (which help dissipate heat), and the coils allow for plenty of airflow throughout the center of the mattress. You can also choose to add the cooling panel to the cover for additional reassurance against sleeping hot.

Motion Transfer

As we noted above, the Titan Plus Luxe is designed with sleep partners in mind. The foam layers on top of the mattress do a good job of absorbing motion and minimizing motion transfer across the surface of the mattress. Meanwhile, the individually wrapped coils also help cut down on motion transfer. This should be a good mattress for couples.

Edge Support

In our experience, the Titan Plus Luxe offers decent edge support while sitting down near the edge, but it left something to be desired when lying near the edge. The edges collapsed when we laid down on them, and we didn’t feel fully secure.

Titan Luxe Hybrid - Edge Support

Durability

The Titan Plus Luxe is a very durable mattress. It’s designed to handle heavier weights without sagging for at least 10 years. That’s thanks to its high-density foams and sturdy coils.

Off-Gassing

We observed a touch of initial off-gassing from this mattress, but it did dissipate after 48 hours.

Noise

At the time of our review, the Titan Plus Luxe didn’t make any notable noise when we moved around on it. That said, because this bed incorporates coils, it’s possible they could start to squeak a bit as time goes on.

Sex

The best mattress for sex makes it easy for partners to change positions without feeling stuck in the bed. Because the Titan Plus Luxe is bouncy and responsive, it should be a great match.

How Does The Titan Plus Luxe Compare To Other Mattresses?

If you’re considering the Titan Plus Luxe, then you’ve probably taken a gander at other online mattresses as well. This is a great idea: Comparison shopping helps you get a feel for the many options available and lets you feel confident in your decision. To make things easier, we’ve done some comparison shopping for you below. Let’s see how the Titan Plus Luxe stacks up against two of its main competitors: The Brooklyn Bedding Signature (made by the same brand as the Titan Plus Luxe) and the Big Fig mattress from Big Fig.

Also, make sure to read our other Brooklyn Bedding mattress comparisons to see our popular comparisons such as Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus vs. WinkBeds Plus.

Titan Plus Luxe Vs. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress

Both the Titan Plus Luxe and the Brooklyn Signature are hybrid mattresses that feature TitanFlex and Energex foams in their comfort layers and coils in their support layers. However, there’s one big difference: The coils in the Titan Plus Luxe are more supportive because this bed is expressly designed for heavier-weight sleepers.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature - Construction

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature comes in three firmness options: Soft, Medium, and Firm. We ranked the medium model around 6.5/10 on the firmness scale. The Titan Plus Luxe only comes in one firmness option, which we also ranked around 6.5/10.

Because they have similar constructions, it might not be surprising that these mattresses are also fairly similar in terms of feel. They both boast a bouncy and responsive feel overall. That said, the Titan Plus Luxe has a slightly more slow-moving feel on top thanks to its cover, which is quilted with memory foam.

Finally, these beds differ when it comes to price. The Brooklyn Signature Hybrid starts around $1249.00 for a Queen size, while the Titan Plus Luxe costs more with a starting price of $1599.00 for the same size.

Who Should Get The Titan Plus Luxe?

  • Heavier people

Who Should Get The Brooklyn Signature Hybrid?

  • Light- and average-weight sleepers

Titan Plus Luxe Vs. Big Fig Mattress

When it comes to their constructions, the Titan Plus Luxe and Big Fig mattresses are fairly similar. Both are hybrid mattresses that incorporate durable materials in the form of coils and high-density foams, and both of them are constructed with heavyweight sleepers in mind.

In spite of the similarities in their constructions, these beds differ when it comes to firmness. We ranked the Big Fig around 8/10, which is much firmer than average. (This makes sense when you consider that the Big Fig is rated to support over 1,000 pounds.) In contrast, the Titan Plus Luxe is much softer at around 6.5/10, or medium-firm.

The significant difference in firmness gives these beds different feelsas does the memory-foam-quilted cover on top of the Titan Plus Luxe, which creates more of a slow-moving feel. In contrast, the Big Fig is much bouncier and even more responsive.

When it comes to price, the Titan Plus Luxe is the cheaper of the two mattresses: It starts at $1599.00 for a Queen size, while the same size Big Fig starts at $1899.00.

Who Should Get The Titan Plus Luxe?

  • Folks who are looking to spend less money
  • Heavier-weight side sleepers
  • Heavier-weight sleepers who want a softer mattress

Who Should Get The Big Fig?

  • Much heavier people
  • Fans of firmer mattresses
  • Heavier-weight stomach sleepers
