Those who have ever spent the night in a luxury hotel have probably slept on a pillow-top mattress. Each model features a Euro-style pillow-top for added pressure relief, as well as two sets of steel coils — high-grade support coils and a secondary network of micro-coils. The WinkBed is one of the best innerspring mattresses, and like the Saatva, offers two sets of individually wrapped coils (a 7.5″ layer and a 2.5″ layer) and several different firmness levels: Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, and Plus. I reviewed the Luxury firm, which has a balance of comfort and support that should appeal to all three sleeping positions. The two sets of coils give support and contouring to back and stomach sleepers alike, while the LumbarLayer makes sure the lower back is properly supported. As for side sleepers, the Euro-style pillow-top should relieve pressure on their shoulders and hips.

The Birch mattress from Helix is a latex hybrid that contains Talalay latex, which is softer and less dense (though admittedly less durable) than Dunlop latex. And if you add the optional pillow-top, you get three more inches of Talalay, as well as some fluffy wool batting — not to mention some added pressure relief that should offer plush comfort to the majority of side sleepers.

Called the Saatva HD, it’s a tall bed that features some very durable, supportive materials that will support much heavier weights: multiple layers of high-density foam, latex foam, and high-grade coils.
